Drake Doremus and “Breathe In”

Posted in Currently at Mission Post, Recent News, Shows & Clients with tags , , , , on September 20, 2013 by wfon

Back in December of 2010, we had the privilege of meeting Drake Doremus and working with him on “Like Crazy.” “Like Crazy” won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Picture at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

Drake’s follow-up, the darker family drama of “Breathe In” screened at Sundance 2013 ahead of an international theatrical and VOD release and is soon to be released stateside. The film stars Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones and is a beautifully meditative piece, improvisational and moody. We are very proud of “Breathe In” and happy to once again have had the chance to work with Drake and his producers at Indian Paintbrush as well as Andrea Sperling and Jonathan Schwartz at Super Crispy. Go see this movie!

Comedy and the End of the World, “It’s a Disaster”

Posted in Currently at Mission Post, Recent News, Shows & Clients with tags , , , , on September 20, 2013 by wfon

Written and directed by Todd Berger, produced by and starring Kevin Brennan and Jeff Grace, “It’s a Disaster” is a laugh-riot from the opening scene. While a group of self-obsessed, egomaniacal friend’s gather for a brunch, terrorists set off a slew of dirty bombs effectively destroying the city (perhaps the world)… this fact is missed by the lunch gathering whose catty conversation and gossipy narrative can’t take a breath to factor in the apocalypse coming down around them. Savagely funny with a great cast including Julia Stiles, David Cross and America Ferrera, “It’s a Disaster” is a lot of fun.

Strange Events in “Far Marfa”

Producer Carolyn Pfeiffer (returning to Mission Post after “The Quiet”) introduced us to Cory Van Dyke and his thoughtful, funny, artistically rendered “Far Marfa,” the story of a down on his luck music producer and his run-ins with a cast of strange folk in the remote and fascinating town of Marfa, Texas. Think early Coen Brothers with a very unique and original flair and you’ll find yourself lost in the vastness of it all.

Dragon Day is here!

What happens when the debt owed by the United States to China (some say it’s in the $1 trillion dollar range) goes unpaid? Jeffrey Travis’ apocalyptic feature “Dragon Day” asks this question and then through an increasingly terrifying and action packed film suggests the error of our ways. Stock up on fresh water and canned goods, friends. Patrick Giraudi and Virtual Mix brought their A game again and we wrapped up at Todd-AO.

“Automotive” Drives Thru

Tom Glynn’s neo-noir “Automotive” revved up at Mission Post on its way to the Dances With Film festival. Shot entirely from the interior perspective of the very unique 1964 Mercury “Breezeway” Montclair, the car almost becomes the lead character as its driver and riders indulge in criminal activities throughout the Los Angeles area. Sun soaked at times, lit by passing headlights in the night at others, “Automotive” has a definite cool and it sounds amazing! Patrick Giraudi and Virtual Mix helped us out on this one ahead of a Todd-AO printmaster.
